Documents Required:

  • a Notice of Intended Marriage must be lodged with your celebrant no  later than one month prior to the wedding date, and signed by an  authorised person. You will still have to provide the appropriate photo  identification and proof of date and place of birth (eg. birth  certificate and drivers license or passport)
  • If either party  has previously been married, you will need divorce certificate, a death  certificate or proof of the dissolution of the marriage.

You don’t have to be:

  • an Australian citizen
  • a permanent resident of Australia

Commitment Cermonies

A commitment ceremony is similar to a wedding ceremony with the exception that it can not be registered. It is a public affirmation of a couple's commitment to one another. The wording of the ceremony can be structured to the couple's own preferences.

A certificate will be issued and signed by the couple and a copy of the ceremony on parchment paper will be given as a memento.

Renewal of Wedding Vows

A vow renewal is a ceremony where a couple publically re-commits to their relationship by expressing their enduring love for one another.

A sentimental rather than an official legal event, a vow renewal is a way for a couple to commemorate an important milestone, such as a major wedding anniversary or important personal milestone.

Interpretting

I am a NAATI accredited interpreter/translator (Arabic-English) at a Professional level. If there is a language difficulty, I can also provide you with information about how to get a professional interpreter. I also recommend the Translators And Interpreters Service (TIS). Call 131450.
